this camera has an obvious edge when it comes to withstanding the elements such as being able to survive impact/shock, submerge underwater up to 16 feet, and live through temperatures that drop as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition to the sturdy rubbery coating on the camera, all the ports and the battery cover locks and seals hermetically to prevent dirt, or water from getting in. A brilliant addition to protect your investment not widely available on other cameras. It is small, easy to hold in your hand, and very lightweight. This model is available in five different colors: white, blue, green, red, and black. The power on and shutter button located on the top of the camera are fairly large and easy to press down, even for those who are older or have joint problems. The software on the camera is very easy to navigate with menus for the following settings and features:

*SETUP MENU – Reset, Compression, Shadow Adjustment, Digital Zoom, Image Stabilization
* OTHER SETTINGS MENUS – Shooting Mode, Flash, Macro, Self Timer, Exposure Compensation, Image Size, Picture Orientation, LED Control, Video Controls, Editing, Sound, Printing, Pixel Mapping, and more!

The 12 megapixel CMOS Sensor paired with the Truepic VI Image Processor are a true dream team when it comes to shooting photos in dim light situations. It is equally impressive in the natural light or cloudy conditions, but the nighttime exposure produces unusually beautifully crisp and clear shots compared to some other cameras. There are three built in high performance modes meant for close up shots: macro, super macro, and super macro LED. Super macro LED produces the most stunning of the three in terms of vibrancy of color. Backed up by the optical zoom, all three of these modes are phenomenal for up close shots or shots with lots of intricacy and color details. For taking still life portrait style photos this camera is top notch. The TG-620is one of the best out there in terms of making skin tone look even and not muddy and does a darn good job of eliminating red eye. In terms of video features the display is incredibly clear and can handle HD picture and comes with an interesting variety of “magic filters” for various special effects.

There is only one negative on the design factor, and it sure isn’t the durability. The construction and the features and functions of the camera are solid like a rock, a rock that sinks like a stone if dropped in water. While your camera will certainly survive being submerged, if you are not wearing the wrist strap and let it go, it will sink as there is no buoyancy to the shell of the exterior.

Using the camera ISO 100 or 200 works just fine, but if you use the camera at ISO levels higher than that things get pretty noisy. The higher on the scale, the more noise there is, but this isn’t necessarily uncommon. Although there really aren’t too many other poor things that can be said about the performance of this Olympus, one other minor downside is the White Balancing Feature. Under indoor fluorescent lighting there appears an orange type hue, and in natural lighting there is a bit too much magenta.

What Owners are Saying about the Olympus TG-620

Across the web, owners of the Olympus TG-620 Camera have nothing but glowing things to say about the performance and physical construction. Nothing is more helpful than first hand experiences from those who have actually used the camera when trying to find the right one for your needs. See what these satisfied owners from across the web have been saying:

“I love this camera! Iwork at a day care center with young toddlers and this camera is perfect. The camera is small and compact, making it super easy to carry around throughout my busy day. Taking a good picture is not difficult with this camera, even when your subjects are running amuck! Idon’t have a lot of time to fiddle with the settings and with this camera, Idon’t have to. Ican just point, shoot, and move on with my day. This camera also definitely lives up to it’s name, very tough. My kids have dropped it on concrete, I’ve dropped it in a pool of water, and it is truly kid proof. Would definitely recommend this camera to anyone who has kids, works with kids, or just wants a camera that can keep up with their busy, and sometimes tough and busy life.”

I bought this camera for my husband as he kayaks and is always asking to take my camera with him. He has already drowned three phones and there was no way he was getting him near my digital camera. The Olympus Tough is the perfect answer to our dilemma. The Olympus is waterproof and shockproof. He has already taken it out on it’s first kayak ride, dunked it below the water line and taken pictures. He is very pleased and so am I. The only problem is the buttons are very small and it took him some time to figure them all out and be able to use them. He is already posting photos he has taken to facebook.

We bought this camera to take on our honeymoon in Tahiti and Bora Bora, knowing that we would be taking a snorkeling trip with sharks and stingrays. It did not disappoint!
For a reasonable price, we got a snappy little camera that can literally be taken anywhere. We were pleasantly surprised to find that this camera has a 5X optical zoom (which is a nice feature in a waterproof point-and-shoot camera) and lots of nice pre-set modes. We got good use out of the “pop art” and “HDR” modes a lot on vacation to capture some of the colors of the tropics. The carrying case is nice, too – slim, sleek, and functional, with a handy wrist strap.
But, if you are looking at this camera, you are probably the most curious about its underwater capabilities. Well, this camera delivers! Wetook so many GORGEOUS photosof tropical fish underwater – this camera did an awesome job capturing colors and taking photosin low light settings. Wewould definitely recommend it if you are looking for an affordable point-and-shoot underwater camera.

If you are a professional photographer or an extreme enthusiast this is a camera you cannot live without. After you view the beautiful, crystal clear images this camera produces and realize that it will survive a fall down a mountainside or a plunge under water you will never turn back. Other digital cameras that take shots of this caliber could cost you $1,000 to $3,000, but this amazingly strong and compact alternative will only run you a shockingly low $143 at the time of this writing. Another fantastic bonus is the 12 month warranty offered by the manufacturer. If your camera has any issues during the first year of ownership, you will simply have to follow the guidelines laid out in this document (http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/repair_pdfs/warranty_info.pdf) on the Service and Repair section of the Olympus website to send your camera to be repaired for free. Regardless of which retailer your purchase your Olympus camera from, you can always contact the manufacturer customer support staff either via email at orders@olympus.com, or by phone at 1-888-553-4448 between the hours of 9 am to 9 pm Monday through Friday.
